The IBT Portfolio

Overall Expectations:
The ability to self-reflect and present one’s accomplishments and abilities in a clear and concise manner is a critical skill for employment in the 21st century.  Students in the Meadowvale IBT program improve their self-reflection and communication skills through the preparation and presentation of their personal portfolios.

Four successful portfolio reviews must be completed to earn an IBT certificate upon graduation (one per year). The portfolio component changes with the needs of our students, however as an example:

  • Grade 9 : Completes a student version of a LinkedIn profile, looking at their accomplishments, community service, academic progress, and co-curricular activities. They will be partnered with a senior IBT student mentor, who will guide them in creating their profile, and act as a peer evaluator during live presentation.

  • Grade 10: Students will build upon their previous years profile, with the help of a senior IBT student mentor.

  • Grade 11: During an overnight leadership retreat, students will present a website they have created to a teacher evaluator. Students will share their plans for post-secondary, their career aspirations, and the plans they have to implement their goals. They will also research current trends in technology for their future career.

  • Grade 12: In order to gain leadership  experience, students will act as mentors to junior students, and help guide their portfolio explorations. They will also act as a peer evaluator, working closely with an IBT co-ordinator teacher.
